    AUSTRALIAN MUSEUM OFFICIALLY REOPENS TO THE PUBLIC Doors Open with Free General Admission from This Saturday 28 November 2020 Sydney, 11:00am, 26 November 2020: The Australian Museum, closed for the past 15 months for a $57.5 million transformation, the largest in its history, was officially reopened today by the NSW Premier, Gladys Berejiklian and Minister for the Arts Don Harwin, in a ceremony held in the Museum’s new Hintze Hall, named for its donor.

    Sydney, 26 November 2020: Sydney has a new civic and cultural space due to Project Discover, which has transformed the heritage buildings of the Australian Museum into a contemporary, open and light-filled civic space for the city. The design of Project Discover, the AM’s $57.5m redevelopment, was led by COX Architecture and Neeson Murcutt + Neille, the firm behind the award-winning Brian Sherman Crystal Hall. Kane Constructions, who collaborated with Neeson Murcutt + Neille to build Brian Sherman Crystal Hall, also managed the build of Project Discover.

The Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year 2020 exhibition showcases the timing, patience, artistry and technique of photographers as they capture spectacular moments in time. This year, the competition received 1796 photographs from 377 photographers in 14 countries, the best of which are displayed in this exhibition.
